My Areas of Expertise
The times in which attorneys were supposed to be able to give counsel in all areas of law are long gone. As with so many other professions, one needs to focus on specific areas to be at the top of one's game.
IP/ITI counsel developers and system houses – at times also their clients – when they are entering into project agreements, e.g. the setup or relaunch of web pages, games development and distribution and all other license- and copyright related matters.
M&A/CorporateIn an M&A scenario most of the times the services of a civil notary is needed. As a civil notary is sworn to independence, he or she cannot and may not represent the interests of the parties. The complexity and commercial scope of a merger with or the acquisition of another enterprise call for the advice of an experienced lawyer. You will find a sample of some of the transaction I was involved in below.
Real EstateMany of the aspects of M&A-deals also apply to real estate transactions, e.g. if you want to buy/sell a piece of land or want to establish hereditary building rights. These agreements also need to be notarised in order to secure a balanced contract. However, as with the M&A agreements, the notaries have to be impartial and may not give counsel to one of the parties. Aside from typical real estate sale contracts I also work in restitution law, i.e. if you either want to assert claims for expropriated real estate in the former GDR or need to defend yourself against such claims.
